An Afghan boy managed to stow away on a Kam Air flight to Delhi from Kabul by hiding in the wheel-well on Sunday.
The boy, 13, was found wandering around the tarmac at Indira Gandhi International Airport near the plane's parking spot shortly after it had landed, according to a statement from India’s Central Industrial Security Force.
When questioned, authorities found he was from Kunduz in northern Afghanistan and had travelled by hiding in the ‘rear central landing gear’ of the aircraft.
The boy managed to miraculously survive the 90-minute flight despite the freezing temperatures, oxygen deprivation, and the risk of being crushed by the landing gear, which has proved fatal for many such ‘wheel-well stowaway’ attempts.
The boy was repatriated to Kabul later the same day on another flight at around 4 pm.
