FOOTBALL – A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND six-a-side football tournament is being launched in the kingdom by the Sports and Arts Academy (Sparta) of St Christopher’s School Bahrain.
The competition, entitled Sparta 6’s, is open to adult teams and it is scheduled to kick off on October 27, with eight squads in the fray in its inaugural season.
Matches will be held weekly on Monday evenings starting from October 27 on Sparta’s brand-new Fifa-certified football pitches at the St Christopher’s junior school campus in Saar.
The championship will culminate in a cup finals day.

“I’m thrilled to announce the official launch of Sparta 6’s, our brand-new football initiative!” Sparta sports coach Alex Mundy told the GDN. “This is a tournament I’ve been passionate about bringing to the Bahrain football community for some time, and it’s finally here.
“Sparta 6’s offers the chance to play exciting, competitive small-sided football – whether you’re a group of friends, colleagues, or part of a corporate team.
“Season one kicks off now and we’re confident it’s going to be a huge success. This is just the beginning – future seasons will hopefully open the door for more divisions and categories, and we can’t wait to see how it grows.
“We look forward to seeing you out on the pitch!”
