The authorities, led by senior figures, conducted an inspection visit to homes in Sitra damaged by shrapnel and other debris following the interception of a drone as Iranian aggression against civilians and infrastructure continued.
Four people sustained ‘minor injuries’ in the incident early yesterday and received timely, full medical attention.
Chief of Police Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan, and Capital Governor Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa, assessed the situation and checked on the safety of citizens and residents shortly afterwards.
Lt Gen Al Hassan affirmed that Bahrain, under its wise leadership, remains capable of overcoming such challenges and will emerge from this crisis stronger and more united than ever before.
He also highlighted the close follow-up of His Majesty King Hamad, who has been monitoring the conditions of those affected and ensuring that all necessary support and care are provided to them. In addition, he noted the commitment of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to safeguarding citizens and providing comprehensive support at all times, reflecting the leadership’s continued focus on public safety and security.
Lt Gen Al Hassan further pointed to the ongoing oversight by Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa in implementing directives to assist those affected. This includes providing shelter, meeting essential needs and coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure a swift and effective response to incidents and to minimise the impact on their lives.
“The authorities continue to perform their duties with professionalism and efficiency as part of national efforts to protect lives and property and enhance immediate response to various emergency situations, reflecting the preparedness of the security system and its competence in dealing with such exceptional circumstances,” Lt-Gen Al Hassan said.
For his part, Shaikh Khalid affirmed that the leadership remains committed to providing all necessary measures to support those affected to cover their needs promptly with care and compassion.
The GDN’s sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej reported today that a family of 20 narrowly escaped from the six buildings damaged. “Aggression only makes us more united behind the leadership,” said one resident.
Sitra’s MP Jalila Al Sayed praised the emergency services for their swift response and also thanked senior officials who turned up on the scene.
She also highlighted the community spirit as residents rushed to the damaged buildings to assist their injured neighbours, describing it as ‘remarkable solidarity and support’.
She also commended the efforts of the health sector, praising the presence of Health Minister Dr Jalila Al Sayyed at the hospital and her diligent follow-up until the early hours of the morning to ensure the well-being of the injured and provide them with the necessary medical care.
