The Bahrain Society of Engineers has honoured Dr Abdul Latif bin Jassim Kanoo with the Lifetime Achievement in Engineering Award in recognition of his pioneering contributions as one of the society’s founders and its first president, and for his role in advancing engineering and housing development in Bahrain.
The award was presented during the Bahraini Engineer’s Day celebration, held under the theme “With Our Bahraini Identity, We Build the Cities of the Future” at the society’s headquarters in Juffair.
Society president Dr Raida Al Alawi emphasised the importance of inspiring future generations to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, describing young engineers as the innovative force driving Bahrain’s progress.
This year’s other award winners were also annonced, including Reem Ahmed Al Otaibi from GPIC, who received the Distinguished Engineer Award, and Amina Al Ubaidly from the Urban
Planning and Development Authority, who won the Young Engineer Award.
Additional recognition was given for outstanding university graduation projects in architecture, civil, electrical, and electronic engineering.
