BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN representatives Riffa are back in action today in the Fiba 3x3 World Tour 2025.
Riffa are set to compete in the qualifying draw for a place in the group stage of the Macau Masters – the latest top-tier event of the premier street basketball series under the International Basketball Federation (Fiba).
The kingdom’s outfit will be taking to the half-court with their quartet of Belgian nationals Dennis Donkor, Jonas Foerts, and Vic van Oosterwyck, along with Serbian Milos Antic.
They are set to compete in qualifying draw A along with Melbourne CLB EXE and Brisbane, both from Australia. There is also a qualifying draw B that features Bordeaux from France, Taipei WanBao from Chinese Taipei, and Port Dickson KL Eagles from Malaysia.
Riffa need to finish in first place to earn their spot in the tournament proper, where they would play in Pool C of the preliminary round along with Liman from Serbia and Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy from Mongolia. Pool A includes Ub from Serbia, Kandava Turiba from Latvia, and Marbella from Spain; Pool B is composed of Miami from the US, Lugano from Switzerland, and Diadema from Brazil; and Pool D comprises Chongming from China, Baskets Bonn Telekom from Germany, and the winners from qualifying draw B.
Riffa play their first qualifying game against Brisbane at 5am today and then face off with Melbourne at 6.40am. The group stage will then tip off at 9.20am. All times are Bahrain.
Riffa are coming off a solid showing in the previous Fiba 3x3 World Tour event, the Deqing Masters, held last weekend in China.
Following Macau, Masters competitions will also be held in Abu Dhabi and Bucharest before heading to Bahrain for the season’s curtain-closing event on November 21 and 22, entitled the Manama Final.
