The Kingdom of Bahrain will host the next edition of the Arab Games in 2027, it was announced this evening.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa congratulated His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the occasion of Bahrain being awarded the honour of hosting the multi-sport event for the first time in its history.
HM King Hamad’s humanitarian work and youth affairs representative and SCYS chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa also congratulated HM the King.
Shaikh Khalid received the flag of the Arab Games 2027 from Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee president and Saudi’s Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal Al Saudduring.
The hand-over took place during the general assembly of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, held today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where the sixth Islamic Solidarity Games are currently being held.
The Arab Games in 2027 will be its 14th edition. The last time it took place was in 2023 in Algeria.
