The Labour Ministry has launched the Freelancers Support Initiative in partnership with the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) to provide support to job-seekers wishing to pursue self-employment as a professional career path and encourage them to engage in flexible and independent work models.
The move is in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to continue national efforts aimed at creating opportunities for citizens and promoting economic development.
Legal Affairs Minister and Acting Labour Minister Yousif Khalaf has stated that through the Freelancers Support Initiative, Bahraini nationals registered with the Labour Ministry as job-seekers – and with less than 12 months of experience – will receive assistance to obtain a virtual commercial registration (Sijili), including reimbursement of registration fees.
Participants will also receive a monthly incentive of BD200 for 12 months, in addition to support for social insurance contributions for one year, to help them launch and grow their freelance businesses.
