HORSERACING – BYLINE, ridden by an in-form Ebrahim Nader for Al Adiyat Racing, lifted the RedX Industries Bahrain Cup last night in the evening’s richest race held at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.
The eight-year-old gelding, trained by Daniel and Claire Kubler, triumphed in the 1,600m race for imported horses to take the lion’s share of the BD5,000 total prize.
In attendance during yesterday’s programme was Prime Minister’s Court Minister and REHC High Committee chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Byline won by a three-quarter’s length from runner-up Royal Scimitar, competing for owners Al Mohamediya Racing, trainer Mohamed Hasan, and jockey Soufiane Saadi. Juantorena was third for Victorious Forever, Fawzi Nass, and Alberto Sanna, while Pure Dreamer came fourth for Adiyat and the Kublers, with Benoit de la Sayette in the saddle.
Nader won three other times on yesterday’s eight-race card. He was triumphant on Zeal to take the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club Sprint Cup, run over a 1,200m straight with BD4,000 on offer. The five-year-old gelding won for owner Mohammed Khalid Abdulrahim and trainer Haider Ebrahim.
Nader then steered Pegasus to claiming the RedX Industries Bahrain Bred Cup in the eighth and final event of the evening for L&Z Racing and Sayed Jaafar Isa, while also taking the first race of the day on Tuwaisan 1844 for owners Al Riffa and trainer Yousif Alboainain.
Elsewhere yesterday, Perast lifted the RedX Industries Maidens Cup for Abdulla Fawzi Nass, Fawzi Nass, and Husain Makki; while Maximum Impact won the second race for Zari Al Afoo Racing, Isa, and Abdulrahim Jasim; Redemption Time claimed race four for Al Afoo Racing, Jaber Ramadhan, and Mirko Sanna; and Knight took race six for Al Wadi Racing, Ramadhan, and Sanna.
