His Majesty King Hamad has pledged to advance Bahrain, serve it and meet the aspirations of its people for progress, stability and a dignified life.
The King was delivering his speech as he patronised the celebrations held yesterday at Sakhir Palace, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, marking Bahrain’s National Day, the 26th anniversary of His Majesty’s accession to the throne, and the accompanying national events.
“On this national anniversary of lasting significance, on the cherished day of Bahrain, it gives us great pleasure to extend our congratulations to all for this glorious occasion – as the nation continues to move forward through the dedication and giving of its sons and daughters,” he said.
“As we observe this precious anniversary – rich in lessons of glory, the values of shared living, and the unity of the national ranks – we are required to draw inspiration from it to renew our shared resolve to maximise efforts, keep pace with the course of time and continue the duty of preserving Bahrain’s historic progress and its recognised standing across various fields and sectors.
“This follows the principled approach established by the nation’s founders and their firm commitment to establishing the foundations of the modern state, whose journey we witness today flourishing with work and contribution.
“There is no occasion more fitting than this national platform to express our satisfaction and pride in the honourable contributions whose impact is evident in every field of service and productivity, whether in government and military service, youth activity, free commercial endeavour, or organised civil action – through the active participation of Bahrain’s distinguished sons and daughters.
“We pay tribute in particular to the pioneers of national service, whom we celebrate on this auspicious day to thank them for their generous contributions and noble deeds that enrich our distinctive Bahraini experience, and that commands our constant appreciation and attention,” His Majesty added.
He concluded by praying to the Almighty to endure Bahrain’s strength and status, and bless the united Bahraini family and all those who reside on its welcoming land with prosperity, stability and the ongoing advancement of our blessed development journey.
Earlier upon his arrival at Sakhir Palace, a 21-gun salute was fired in honour of the occasion. The ceremony commenced with the playing of the National Anthem, followed by a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.
The King presented honourary medals to the distinguished honourees.
