Bahrain, representing the GCC as Chair of its 46th session, delivered a statement at the United Nations General Assembly during a session receiving a joint briefing from the Presidents of the General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The statement underscored the GCC’s support for all UN bodies, including ECOSOC, and called for reforms to enhance their effectiveness and deliver tangible results.
Deputy Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the UN in New York Nancy Jamal said that on the 80th anniversary of ECOSOC, the council must remain agile, keep pace with global developments and address current challenges through multilateral action linking peace and sustainable development.
She highlighted the GCC’s active engagement with the council, including participation in international forums and conferences that promote global co-ordination and ensure no one is left behind, while reaffirming the GCC’s ongoing commitment to support ECOSOC’s work.
