VOLLEYBALL – BAHRAIN Volleyball Association (BVA) president Major General Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa affirmed the BVA’s commitment to promoting values of respect and sportsmanship, which are fundamental to the development and continued success of the game of volleyball.
Shaikh Ali stressed this during a meeting between senior men’s national team and Muharraq Club star Naser Anan and international referee Jaafar Al Muallim, in an effort to reconcile the pair following their physical altercation during a match last month in the 2025-26 Isa Bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League – which resulted in both being banned for two seasons.
Shaikh Ali was keen to bring Anan and Al Muallim together in a fraternal reunion imbued with a spirit of affection and understanding, in accordance with the values of the holy month of Ramadan. Shaikh Ali, who is also the Arab Volleyball Association chief, also hoped to bridge the gap between the player and referee and maintain a healthy relationship between them.
During the meeting, Anan and Al Muallim spoke amicably and expressed their appreciation for the BVA’s role in fostering unity and a positive atmosphere within the kingdom’s volleyball community, which they said they are proud to be a part of.
The gathering concluded with the pair reflecting a shared desire to overcome the past events.
