The Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry has released its annual land transport statistics for 2025, revealing remarkable growth in public transport usage alongside robust commercial and service activity within the sector.
Public transport registered a record 12,189,891 trips, supported by an integrated network of facilities comprising 560 bus laybys, 261 open shelters, 45 air conditioned shelters, 11 bus interchanges, 77 bus on-street stops and 24 taxi stops.
Regarding issued licences, the ministry granted a wide array of land transport permits. These included 237 licences for car rentals, 117 for domestic passenger transport, and 162 for domestic freight transport, compared with 157 for international transport.
Turning to the maritime sector, the ministry reported that the small vessel registration office processed 959 transactions last February. These covered a range of services related to vessel registration and maritime navigation. Specific transactions included 159 boat registrations, 14 jet-ski registrations, and the issuance or renewal of 384 maritime driving licences.
