Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Bahrain marked Eid Al Fitr with heartfelt gratitude, even as ongoing regional tensions continued to affect daily life.
Many gathered in small groups for prayers and simple meals, while others observed the occasion quietly at shared accommodation and homes.
Kaisahan ng Filipino Balik Islam sa Bahrain (KFBI – Bahrain) president Julius Mamaclay shared how the group marked the occasion.
“We had a modest breakfast with some of our members and my family,” he said. “We continue to practise the traditions and teachings of Islam, as this helps strengthen our brotherhood.”
KFBI also recently conducted its Ramadan Iftar Distribution Programme, providing iftar packages to help members of the community break their fast.
Meanwhile, Neverlyn Biona, 44, from Iloilo City reflected on the significance of the day.
“My friends and I attended Eid prayers at the mosque and celebrated the day with prayers for peace and prosperity,” she said. “With sincere hearts, full of blessings and warm wishes, we marked this special occasion.”
For many OFWs in Bahrain, Eid Al Fitr offers more than just a public holiday; it is an opportunity to deepen their understanding of Islamic culture and traditions.
Habi Pilipina president Ruth Apurado highlighted that no matter the challenges, they continue to stand together in unity.
Ms Apurado celebrated a simple get-together with her fellow Habi Pilipina officers following a meeting to discuss the direction of the organisation’s programmes in light of the current situation.
Habi Pilipina is a collective of talented women tailors and designers in the kingdom, composed of former participants from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Dressmaking Course and the Pinay Ikaw Na programme.
