CYCLING – PELLO Bilbao finished narrowly missed out on the top 10 yesterday as Team Bahrain Victorious’s leading rider in the 35th Gran Premio Miguel Indurian in Spain.
The one-day road race featured a distance of 203.9km, and Bilbao was classified 12th as part of a trailing group behind winner Ion Izagirre of Cofidis.
Teammate Jakob Omrzel followed in 22nd place, while Antonio Tiberi came 48th.
The squad’s other members did not finish, including Alberto Bruttomesso, Roman Ermakov, Oliver Stockwell, and Attila Valter.
Bahrain Victorious are now set to compete in another race in Spain, scheduled to begin tomorrow.
The six-stage Itzulia Basque Country will be in its 65th edition. Across the week, the peloton will cover 810.1km from Bilbao to Bergara, tackling a total of 16,404m of climbing.
Bilbao will once again be leading the team in his home event. He will once again be racing alongside Tiberi, Bruttomesso, Ermakov, Stockwell, and Valter, with Rainer Kepplinger replacing Omrzel on the start list.
