STRENGTH SPORTS – EMAD Hussain Ali Al Qaffas emerged as the heavyweight division champion in the Bahrain Strongest Man Championship 2026, which took place at Khalifa Sports City Arena in Isa Town.
The event was held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The closing ceremony was attended by GSA vice-president and Bahrain Combat Sports Council president Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, along with GSA CEO Dr Abdulrahman Askar.
Shaikh Salman awarded the winners at the end of all the action, which featured contests in Log Press, XL Bar Deadlift, Yoke Walk, Wheel of Pain, and Power Stairs.
Al Qaffas finished first amongst the heavyweights ahead of runner-up Sayed Murtadha Sayed Khalil and Yaqoob Ibrahim Al Atawi, who came third.
Isa Arif Rashdan was the winner in the middleweight category, while Abdulrahman Tariq took second and Duaij Ali Mohammed ranked third. They were awarded by Dr Askar.
Khalid Abdo Al Dhafri clinched first place in the lightweight class, where they were presented their prizes by organising committee chairman Ahmed Al Shaikh. Omar Sadiq Al Kooheji came second and Yousif Jamal Juma finished third.
Speaking about the event, Shaikh Khalid affirmed that the Bahrain Strongest Man Championship continues to achieve its goals in discovering and developing national talent and strengthening the presence of strength sports in the kingdom.
Shaikh Khalid commended the distinguished levels demonstrated by the participants and the strong competitive spirit that reflected the development of the sport and the ambition of Bahraini athletes.
He congratulated the winners and affirmed that their achievements were the result of dedication, discipline, and determination, calling on all participants to continue developing their abilities and represent Bahrain in external competitions.
Shaikh Khalid also noted that the continuation of the championship reflects commitment to providing Bahraini youth with platforms to showcase their abilities and develop their skills.
He commended the efforts of the organising committee, working committees, and volunteers for their role in the success of the championship and its organisation in a manner reflecting Bahrain’s capabilities in hosting major sporting events.
