Bahrain's taekwondo and 3x3 basketball national teams were given a hero’s welcome yesterday upon their return to the kingdom from the fourth GCC Games in Doha, Qatar.
Receiving the squads at Bahrain International Airport were Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) sports project management director Lounes Madene and BOC sports associations director Hesham Albeloshi, along with officials from the Bahrain Taekwondo Federation and the Bahrain Basketball Association.
The kingdom’s taekwondo and 3x3 basketball squads came away with five medals between them.
Jins Fatema Kalawadh and Muath Ebrahim both struck gold while teammate Abdulla Alhiddi came away with a silver medal.
The women’s 3x3 basketball team – composed of Bayan Salman, Aya Kamali, Maryam Sameer, and Shereen Abdulrahman – were crowned champions of their tournament, while the men’s 3x3 team – featuring Bogdan Dragovic, Mohammed Buallay, Austin Ajukwa, and Wayne Chism – secured silver in their event.
