The General Poultry Company (GPC) and its labour union have been honoured with two prestigious awards by the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions (GFBTU) as part of Bahrain’s 2026 Labour Day celebrations.
GPC clinched the ‘Management Excellence Award’, while its labor union secured the ‘Labour Union Excellence Award’, reflecting a strong partnership dedicated to bolstering the kingdom’s food security.
In addition to the corporate accolades, two employees were individually recognised for outstanding performance this year: Amna Abdel Wahab from the packing department and Yasser Al Demistani from the maintenance department.
GPC management attributed the achievement to years of collaboration, mutual respect, and ongoing investment in workforce training, while acknowledging the vital support of stakeholders Mumtalakat and Ghitha.
The company also highlighted its operational resilience during recent regional disruptions following the Iran conflict, during which GPC maintained uninterrupted supply chains to provide fresh eggs daily across Bahrain.
“This recognition reflects the collective effort of our entire organisation,” GPC chief executive officer Wael Itani said. “Continuity is about people working together with a shared sense of responsibility. Recent regional challenges demonstrated the resilience of our teams, who ensured fresh eggs reached consumers every single day.”
HR and administration manager Jalila Al Derazi noted that the relationship between management and the union has evolved through continuous dialogue and mutual respect.
GFBTU general secretary Abdulqader Al Shehabi praised the partnership, stating it “demonstrates what can be achieved when employees and management work towards the same goal.”
GPC labour union head Haidar Habib added: “There is a genuine understanding that every individual plays an important role in maintaining operational continuity and consumer trust. We are proud of our workforce as we journey toward GPC’s 50th year.”
