The Hamala and Sitra abattoirs, both accredited by Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry, witnessed large turnout from citizens and residents on the first day of Eid Al Adha for the performance of the sacrificial ritual, under comprehensive veterinary oversight to ensure the safety of livestock and meat, despite the noticeable increase in sacrificial animal prices this year.
Livestock owners arrived from the early morning hours following Eid prayers.
Somali sheep topped the list of best-selling livestock, alongside other varieties such as Ethiopian and Naeemi sheep, our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej reported.
Prices for Somali sheep ranged between BD 65 and BD 75, while some larger-sized livestock reached around BD 90.
