The Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry has pledged to continue developing parks and public facilities, expanding tree-planting projects and increasing green spaces to support environmental sustainability and meet the needs of citizens and residents.
The minister, Wael Al Mubarak, made the pledge when he inaugurated Al Qaryah Park in Block 551, Northern Governorate yesterday.
The event was attended by MP Dr Munir Ibrahim Suroor; ministry Under-Secretary Shaikh Mohammed Ahmed Al Khalifa, council chairman Dr Sayed Shubbar Al Wedaei, council vice-chairwoman and representative of the seventh constituency Zaina Jassim and municipality director general Mohammed Saad Al Sahli.
The minister said that the park is an important addition to recreational and public infrastructure in the Northern Governorate and forms part of ongoing efforts to provide integrated facilities across the kingdom.
He noted that the project covers a total area of 3,400sqm and has been designed in accordance with the highest technical and engineering standards.
It includes a main children’s play area that complies with safety and security requirements, a football pitch, a smart irrigation system, security cameras, service facilities and dedicated parking spaces.
Mr Al Mubarak highlighted that the park’s green areas cover approximately 752sqm, representing around 22pc of the total project area, and have been planted with a variety of trees and plants in line with the national afforestation plan.
He also underlined the ministry’s commitment to continuing initiatives and projects that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.
He commended the constructive co-operation with the Northern Municipal Council and its commitment to monitoring residents’ needs and addressing them through service and development projects.
Dr Suroor expressed appreciation for the ministry’s efforts in implementing service and development projects.
He said the opening of the park reflects the commitment to providing integrated recreational and public facilities for residents and creating a suitable environment for all age groups.
Dr. Al Wedaei commended the ministry’s efforts to develop public facilities and the ongoing support it provides to municipal councils, which contributes to enhance infrastructure, improving municipal services and meeting citizens’ expectations.
He said the park represents a landmark project for local residents and the wider community.
Ms Jassim said the park is an important project for residents of the constituency due to its strategic location near residential areas and ease of access, in addition to the facilities and sports grounds it provides for different segments of the community.
