MOTORSPORT – BMW Team WRT grabbed overall pole position for today’s 94th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans – the third round of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), taking place at Circuit de la Sarthe in France.
The crew of Kevin Magnussen, Raffaele Marciello, and Dries Vanthoor in their #15 M Hybrid V8 Hypercar secured the leading position on the massive 62-car grid with a best lap time of three minutes 22.564 seconds.
They inherited pole after Cadillac Hertz Team Jota’s #38 trio of Jack Aitken, Sebastien Bourdais, and Earl Bamber – who had pipped BMW in the Hyperpole Two session by 0.005 seconds – were handed a penalty and their quickest lap was deleted.
The Heart of Racing Team will start from pole position in the ultra-competitive LMGT3 category. They had a fastest lap of 3:52.433 in their #27 Aston Martin Vantage AMR, outpacing the #21 Vista AF Corse Ferrari by 0.979s.
LMP2 saw the #29 Forestier Racing by Panis set the best time with a blistering lap of 3:32.885, heading the #28 Idec Sport by 0.387s.
This year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans flags off this evening at 5pm, Bahrain time. A warm-up session will be held at 1pm, also Bahrain.
