MOTORSPORT – Bahraini-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport maintained their strong form yesterday in the fifth round of the 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Europe, currently taking place at Misano World Circuit in Italy.
2 Seas had both their cars in leading positions in the practice one classification of the race weekend, which is set to be headlined by a pair of two-hour sprints.
Their number 222 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, driven by the British tandem of Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss, were third in the Bronze class and an impressive 10th overall from 43 cars in the session.
Meanwhile, their number three Mercedes-AMG – driven by Andorran-French Jules Gounon and Spaniard Dani Juncadella and operated by 2 Seas in collaboration with Team Verstappen Racing, owned by four-time Formula One world champion Max Verstappen – were eighth-quickest in the Pro category while going 14th overall.
Both 2 Seas contenders are back in action today – first in qualifying, starting at 2.05pm, Bahrain time, for the round’s opening sprint, which is scheduled to flag off at 9.30pm tonight, also Bahrain time.
Race two will then take place tomorrow at 3.30pm, with a second qualifying preceding it at 11.05am, both Bahrain time.
In yesterday’s first practice, Dawson and Jewiss clocked a best mark of one minute 33.394 seconds while completing 26 laps of work.
They were about a half-second behind Bronze class leaders GetSpeed Team Dubai, who were also the overall pace-setters in their number 12 Mercedes-AMG with a fastest lap of 1:32.868. Winward Racing followed at 1:33.247 in their number 87 Mercedes-AMG.
Amongst the Pro competitors, Gounon and Juncadella had a best time of 1:33.483 while running for 18 laps in the practice.
Team WRT’s number 32 BMW M4 GT3 Evo led the category with a quickest lap of 1:33.185.
Winward Racing’s number 48 Mercedes-AMG followed in 1:33.280, while Team WRT’s number 46 BMW M4 were third in 1:33.284.
2 Seas, co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, are competing with their two-car entry for the full 2026 calendar of the GTWC Europe, which features both sprint and endurance meetings.
