Festivities are set to begin as the Kerala Catholic Association (KCA) officially unveils Onam Ponnonam 2026.
The cultural extravaganza will kick off on August 21 and run for a month and a half.
The celebrations will bring alive Kerala’s rich heritage and feature a diverse line-up of cultural, sporting, entertainment, and community activities.
Translating to ‘golden Onam’, Onam Ponnonam is the culmination of the auspicious 10-day harvest festival of Kerala. It celebrates the legendary return of the king Mahabali who ruled Kerala.
A major highlight of this month is a tug-of-war competition on August 28 with attractive cash prizes for winners. A fun payasam-making (sweet) competition will also be organised on the same day.
Next month, participants can expect an entertaining musical evening entitled Sangeetha Sandhya on September 12 and 17. Meanwhile, drama enthusiasts are set for a showcase of talent as international artists will put up a play at the KCA premises on September 17.
October will open with the much-awaited Thiruvathirakkali dance competition (October 1). High-value prizes are in store for the best performers.
On October 2, KCA’s ladies’ wing will stage a mega fusion dance programme on the club’s grounds.

The programme will come to an end with a grand closing ceremony on October 10.
