The Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB) received the 2026 Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award in the Land Records/Cadastre industry for its geospatial platform, during the Esri User Conference 2026 in San Diego, the US.
The conference brought together more than 18,000 technology, innovation and GIS leaders and specialists from more than 100 countries.
The SAG Award is one of the world’s leading awards in GIS. It is presented annually to organisations from around the world in recognition of their achievements in using GIS and developing innovative applications and solutions in the field.
SLRB president Bassem Al Hamer said the achievement reflects the continued support for digital transformation and innovation in Bahrain under the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
This has contributed to creating a national environment that encourages innovation and enables government entities to develop advanced digital solutions in line with international best practices.
Mr Al Hamer said the achievement reflects the advanced capabilities of national talent in geospatial data and digital innovation, commending the efforts of the specialised team that developed the geospatial platform over the past two years based on innovation, data integration and the use of latest technologies, contributing to the development of an advanced system.
He noted that the geospatial platform is one of the bureau’s strategic projects. It aims to develop geospatial data infrastructure and provide advanced solutions for various government entities through an integrated system that enables real-time data exchange and updates, helping improve government efficiency and support planning and decision-making.
The platform provides a range of advanced technologies and services, enhancing the use of spatial information in planning and development.
