BOWLING – Bahrain Club registered a crucial 8-0 (2,621-2,480) sweep of Um Al Hassam in the 13th and penultimate week of action in the 2026 Bahrain Bowling League, currently being played at Funland Centre.
Bahrain Club’s quartet of Aqeel Alawadhi, Emerson Gotencio, Khaled Sameer, and Abdulla Abdulkarim put in impressive performances to help their team take all three games in the match.
The won game one 876-845 and then powered to an 830-813 result in game two.
They then wrapped up the contest with a 915-822 triumph in the third game while ensuring they also take home the two bonus points on totals.
Alawadhi was Bahrain Club’s leading man with a 702 individual score, while Gotencio ably assisted his teammate with a 675 total.
Sameer also had a fine outing of 656 pins, while Abdulkarim contributed a 588 series to their cause.
Rashed Aldalhan paced Um Al Hasam in their loss with a 719 total, while Ali Darwish contributed a 620 score.
Following their victory, Bahrain Club leapfrogged Um Al Hassam to second place on the league standings, where they improved to 84 points. Um Al Hassam remained on 78 in third.
Bahrain Club continued to trail defending champions and current leaders Riffa, however. Riffa are six points ahead on 90 with just the final week of play remaining.
They took one step closer to defending their crown and repeating as champions with a 6-2 (2,504-2,284) win over Busaiteen in their week 13 clash.
The two teams split the opening two games, with Riffa winning game one 884-764 but Busaiteen bouncing back to narrowly capture game two 802-792.
Riffa then closed the match strong with an 828-718 triumph in game three.
Ali Almass spearheaded Riffa’s efforts with a 711 series, while JM Villanueva contributed 619 pins and Mohammed Ali Janahi 614.
Francis Medios led Busaiteen with 639 pins in the loss.
While Riffa stayed atop the table, Busaiteen remained in fifth with 36 points.
Elsewhere in the league’s 13th matchweek, Al Hala beat Sanad 6-2 (2,275-2,155) led by the 657 total of Abdulla Bahar, while Isa Town overcame Al Ettifaq 6-2 (2,027-1,955) paced by the 582 series of Abdulla Almurbati.
The stage is now set for the league’s 14th and final round this Sunday, starting from 6.30pm at Funland.
Riffa will be looking to secure their back-to-back championships when they take on Ettifaq, while Bahrain Club will be hoping they slip up as they meet Hala in their assignment.
Um Al Hassam take on Sanad and Busaiteen face Isa Town in the other fixtures.
