A fully air conditioned central market overlooking the sea and an integrated supermarket are set to enhance the quality of life of citizens in Salman Town, ensuring they have everything they need within a short distance.
As part of the ongoing urban and service development, Salman Town is preparing for the new additions that will further strengthen its position as one of the kingdom’s model cities.
According to Northern Municipal Council member Bassem Ali Abu Idrees, the central market and the supermarket are set to be developed in Block 583, responding to residents’ needs and enhancing the city’s integrated range of services.
“The central market will enjoy a distinctive location overlooking the waterway, combining practical services with an attractive setting,” said Mr Abu Idrees.
“Meanwhile, the supermarket will provide an additional commercial and service offering, catering to residents’ everyday needs while giving them greater convenience and easier access to essential goods.
“The central market will be fully air conditioned, providing shoppers with a comfortable environment throughout the year.
“It will also feature a modern design that takes into account the needs of families and visitors, giving it a character that sets it apart from traditional markets.”

Mr Abu Idrees stated that among the attractive features designed to create an even more pleasant atmosphere will be a small landscaped green area at the heart of the market.
This will provide shoppers with a quiet space to sit and relax, offering a break from the conventional character of traditional markets and creating an experience that combines shopping and relaxation in one place.
The project will directly serve the residents of Salman Town, helping to reduce the need to leave the city to obtain everyday essentials.
It will also save residents time and effort while supporting commercial and economic activity within the city.
“As new projects, facilities and services continue to emerge, Salman Town is further establishing itself as a modern, integrated city with the essential amenities and services needed for everyday life,” said Mr Abu Idrees.
“In doing so, it is becoming an urban and service-development model for the kingdom.
“The central market and the supermarket are therefore more than simply commercial facilities; they form part of a broader vision for a city whose services continue to expand day by day.
“They will ensure that residents and citizens can find what they need close to home, within a modern and comfortable environment befitting Salman Town.”
The GDN reported in June that 569 modern residential units featuring hanging gardens and integrated lifestyle amenities are scheduled for completion by late 2027 in Salman Town.
The projects were showcased during a presentation before the Northern Municipal Council, where Housing and Urban Planning Ministry officials revealed plans for 432 ownership apartments as part of the second phase of Salman Town’s residential towers, alongside 137 housing units currently being developed through partnerships with the private sector.
