BASKETBALL – Isa Town outclassed Manama 76-67 last night as the 2026-27 Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) Cup got officially underway at the BBA Arena in Um Al Hassam Sports Complex.
Isa Town used a scintillating third-quarter performance, when they doubled Manama’s output 26-13, to turn a 31-37 deficit at the half into a 57-50 lead heading into the final frame.
The victors didn’t let up from there, leading by as many as 12 points with under three minutes remaining en route to completing their winning start to the competition.
Mahmood Shaker led four Isa Town players in double figures with 17 points, while Hamad Alrumaihi added 14 – with both Shaker and Alrumaihi coming off the bench.
Habib Sami chipped in with 13 and Sayed Mohsen had 12 for Isa Town.
Abdulrazaq Saif scored 16 and Yousif Murbati had 14 to pace Manama.
Both sides are in Group B of the tournament’s preliminary round alongside Al Ahli, Nuwaidrat, and Sitra.
Group A features Muharraq, Al Hala, and Samaheej, while Al Najma and Al Ettihad were also originally set to compete in their division, but have officially withdrawn from the tournament, according to our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
The BBA has yet to officially announce both withdrawals and it is still unknown whether there will be a regrouping of teams.
