A truck carrying heavy steel coils in Oman veered out of control on Friday, triggering a 15-vehicle pile-up that killed six women from the same family and injured 18 others.
The crash occurred in the Wilayat of Samail on Sultan Thuwaini bin Said Road as the tractor-trailer was travelling towards Muscat.

Encountering sudden congestion from an earlier incident, the driver lost control, dislodging the heavy cargo.
The truck veered into the opposite carriageway, while the steel coils were thrown across the median barrier, crushing oncoming traffic.
Police confirmed 15 vehicles were damaged in the collision. Eight of the 18 injured individuals remain in critical condition.
Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology announced on Saturday that it has launched an investigation into the crash to determine contributing factors.
The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the victims' families and wished the injured a full recovery.
