Dubai: A expat Bangladeshi couple lured two teenage girls to UAE and forced them into prostitution.
The couple who were charged with human trafficking and for facilitating prostitution by the Dubai Criminal Court, which the couple denied.
According to a report in The National, the court records stated that both girls were promised a job at a beauty salon in Dubai. But on their arrival to Emirate, both girls were locked, beaten up and forced to work as prostitutes.
One of the rescued girls said, the couple took her passport and was told she won’t be working in a salon but as a prostitute, which she refused. She was severely beaten by the woman’s husband who threatened to lock her up for ten years if she did not comply.
One of the girls caught a lucky break and managed to unlock the door of one of the houses she was being held captive in. She escaped, hailed a taxi and since the taxi driver turned out to be a Bangaldeshi she narrated her ordeal to him. The driver took her to the nearby police station.
The other girl’s story wasn’t very different, she too was locked in a room for several days as she didn’t want to work as a prostitute. She too managed to break free when she got an opportunity to call the police from the flat she was confined in. Both the girls were taken to the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children.
As the accused did not have a lawyer to fight their case, the case was adjourned till the next hearing which will be on September 2.
