Bahrain players celebrate scoring against Taiwan
Bahrain crushed Taiwan 5-0 to remain on top of Group ‘E’ in their qualifying stage match of Asian Cup 2019 played at Bahrain National Stadium in Isa Town last night.
Bahrain’s goals were scored by Kumail Al Aswad (10th minute), Ali Madan (45th), Mahdi Abduljabbar (65th and 89th) and Abdulla Yousif (74th).
This was Bahrain’s second victory in the group that helped them remain on top with seven points. They drew 0-0 in their opening match against Singapore at home and won against Turkmenistan 2-1 in Ashgabat. Taiwan remained with three points from a 2-1 victory over Singapore.
The hosts came up with their best performance so far last night, with excellent attack and brilliant defensive tactics under the guidance of coach Miroslav Soukup.
Bahrain’s first chance to score came in the ninth minute, when striker Mahdi Abduljabbar sent a powerful shot which flew over the top of the bar.
A minute later the hosts scored the opening goal when midfielder Kumail Al Aswad’s shot hit one of Taiwan’s defenders and sailed into the net.
