A further increase in petrol prices has been announced by the National Oil and Gas Authority (Noga).
Jayyid (91 octane) will now cost 140 fils per litre, an increase from 125 fils per litre, while Mumtaz has increased to 200 fils per litre from the previous 160 fils.
“This means that the Mumtaz petrol prices have been increased by 25 per cent and Jayyid petrol 12 per cent increase,” said Noga in a statement.
It added the revised prices followed a review in other Gulf countries and the world markets.
In January 2016, the government increased prices of Mumtaz fuel by 60 per cent to 160fils per litre, while cheaper Jayyid fuel increased by 56.25pc to 125fils per litre.
Saudi Arabia increased its petrol prices at the start of this year, while Kuwait announced an 80pc increase in petrol prices from September 2016.
