ONE of Bahrain’s biggest animal shows is set to make a comeback this year, after a four-year gap.
Plans for the fourth edition of The Bahrain Animal Production Show (Mara’ee) were discussed at a meeting attended by Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Khalaf with InJAz Bahrain chief executive Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa and Pico International Bahrain chief executive Khalid Juman.
The meeting focused on the location of Mara’ee 2018 exhibition, and the spaces which will be allocated to exhibitors from Bahrain and abroad to showcase their products.
The expo represents a premium opportunity for investors in the sector to keep abreast of latest products and strides, said the minister.
He called upon investors to benefit from the presence of specialised international companies to develop the sector, as part of strenuous efforts to achieve food security in Bahrain.
The meeting was attended by Agricultural Affairs and Marine Resources Under-Secretary Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al Khalifa, Municipal Affairs Under-Secretary Dr Nabil Abul Fateh, Capital Trustees Board secretary general Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed and other officials.
His Majesty King Hamad inaugurated the first edition of Mara’ee in November 2010, as well as the third one in 2014 which drew more than 400,000 people.
The 2014 event included a farm animal exhibition, a horse show, a bird show, an area dedicated to fish, live expos, an outdoor theatre, children’s stations, a farmers’ market and an educational zone.
Around 180 exhibitors from 35 countries took part.
For the first time the event included a rodeo, bio-poultry farm, horse puppets, hen parade and training on dealing with animals.
