MANAMA: Five key events, four competitions and more than 30 speakers from Bahrain and the region will be featured in the Start-up Bahrain Week starting this Saturday.
Events from March 3 to March 8 will be organised in five venues around the kingdom and are expected to attract more than 2,500 participants from around the world, Economic Development Board (EDB) chief executive Khalid Al Rumaihi told a Press conference at the EDB’s office in Arcapita Building yesterday.
“It will serve as an open platform for the start-up community to discuss experiences and challenges, as well as to showcase the services offered by incubators and accelerators to start-ups.”
The Start-up Bahrain Week is being held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Chairman of the EDB, and is a joint initiative of the EDB and Tamkeen, whose chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa said, “Our strategic partnership with the EDB in hosting the Start-up Bahrain Week is in line with our efforts towards enhancing the start-up ecosystem, ensuring that aspiring entrepreneurs have a support system in place to help them realise their business goals and grow their companies.”
The week will begin with the first GCC Game Conference, organised by InfiniteWare on Saturday at Bahrain Polytechnic and will include the announcement of the Game Jam competition awards.
The second event is the Rowad Majlis on Sunday at Alto, Downtown Rotana featuring Walid Mansour, partner and chief investment officer of MEVP Funds, and Elie Habib, co-founder of Anghami.
On Sunday and Monday, CH9 and YoStartups will organise My Start-up Bootcamp to provide aspiring start-ups an intensive bootcamp that delivers a complete overview on what it takes to succeed as an entrepreneur.
In the heritage houses of Muharraq, Thinkers & Doers will bring to Bahrain on Tuesday the Follow The Leaders conference, with a day full of business meetings, panel discussions, workshops, and prizes for best start-ups.
Held at Bahrain International Circuit on Wednesday and Thursday, the Unbound innovation festival will feature sessions, talks and a pitch competition.
On the sidelines of Unbound, American Express Middle East will organise Hack @ The Track hackathon powered by AngelHack to encourage the development and adoption of digital payment solutions.
