TALENTED performers from the region and beyond vied for a major Bahraini award last night.
Forty-five artists from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Syria and Pakistan showed off their skills in music, mime, skit and puppet show in the 2018 Bahrain Talent Show.
The event was held at the Gravity Village in Al Basta Market in the Southern Governorate.
The acts were judged by a panel comprising Bahraini actress Shaima Sabt, who spearheads the Metwajdeen (There for You) initiative which provides emotional support to underprivileged families, Bahraini actor and director Jumaan Al Ruwaie, Bahrain University Radio and Television associate professor Dr Mohammed Al Sayed and Bahraini flautist Ahmed Al Ghanem.
“There was a great display of talent and I am sure the judges had a tough time choosing the best,” said a spokeswoman representing the organiser FinMark Communications.
“The huge crowd at the venue showed that people love such shows and the class of the programmes proved that there is immense talent out there.
“We hope to have more such shows in the future.”
Bahraini Hassan Jamal said the show was unique.
“We came to the Al Basta market as always and that’s when we heard about the talent show,” he told the GDN.
“The performances were brilliant, be it the songs, music or skits – all were so rich and I am glad I got to watch this event.
“It is a unique show, I must say.
“It is important to hone such talents in the youngsters and such platforms encourage and help to build confidence in the performers.”
The winners, who were awarded the 2018 Best Talent in Bahrain trophy and other prizes, qualified for the 2018 Annual Bahrain Business Quiz Show which is taking place from April 22 to 26.
The Business Quiz series, which is a collaborative effort between Tamkeen and FinMark Communications, will take place in front of a live audience.
Four teams will be competing with each other to test their knowledge of their industry and Bahrain’s economy.
