Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has announced the opening of a Sheraton-branded hotel in Sharjah this month, marking its entry in the UAE emirate.
The 349-room resort, which opens on November 15, further expands the company's portfolio in the UAE to 25 hotels across five of the country's seven emirates.
"The entry of Sheraton in Sharjah marks a milestone for the company and also reinforces the Sheraton brand's goal to open 150 new hotels by 2020," said Guido de Wilde, senior vice president, regional director, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Middle East. "The opening of the hotel solidifies Starwood's position as the leading hospitality company in the UAE with 25 operating properties."
The Sheraton Sharjah Beach Resort & Spa features 349 spacious guest rooms and suites, and provides panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf and the city of Sharjah. All rooms are outfitted with the Sheraton brand's signature amenities and services, including its signature sleep experience. The hotel also includes an ultra-modern Sheraton Clublounge where Club level guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast and all-day refreshments.
Sheraton Sharjah Beach Resort & Spa features a carefully curated selection of restaurants that offer a range of dining experiences. The hotel opens with Al Qubtan, the beach side restaurant serving popular grilled classics, and the Link@Sheraton Café which offers the perfect venue for a social or business meet. By the end of November, the hotel will open its all-day dining outlet Gusti, which transforms into a casual contemporary venue for lunch and serves the finest Italian cuisine for dinner; Marasea, a seafood market serving the freshest catches from the Gulf; and the Al Mahattah Lounge, an exclusive enclave offering the finest cigars in an elegant setting for drinks and quiet conversation. In December, the hotel will also introduce Arjwan, the first truly Emirati restaurant in the emirate with regional specialties in an indoor as well as al fresco setting.
Sheraton Sharjah Beach Resort & Spa will also offer the largest hotel conference facilities in the city with over 2,100-sq-m of meeting and event space, including two large ballrooms and nine meeting rooms, making it an ideal choice for celebrations and business functions. In addition, the hotel offers a dedicated Star Meeting concierge to ensure a personalised and memorable experience.
The hotel also features a range of leisure facilities such as the well-equipped Sheraton Fitness by Exos programme, outdoor swimming pools and a private beach. The Shine Spa for Sheraton will open in December with over 1,100-sq-m of space spread over two floors, featuring 15 treatment rooms and its own Turkish Hamman.
Edwin Wijkhuijs, complex general Manager in charge of the Sheraton Sharjah Beach Resort & Spa added, "Our aim is to redefine the guest experience in Sharjah and offer guests a level of service that is warm and efficient. We have put together an immensely efficient team of talent to deliver a world class experience, and we look forward to welcoming local residents and travellers to Sheraton Sharjah Beach Resort & Spa."
