A POSTAL sorting centre costing BD2,568,800 has entered its final stages of construction.
The Postal Sorting Centre, located in the industrial zone of the Khalifa Bin Salman Port, is designed to provide services related to the reception and sorting of postal parcels and related customs procedures for the Transportation and Telecommunication Ministry.
The two-storey centre is built on an area of 4,190sqm and includes a car park with 67 spaces. A field visit was made by officials from the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry including director of construction projects department Mariam Abdullah Amin.
“Implementation of the project is currently in its final stages, where all the construction work of the main building, the public site and the external wall have been completed,” said Ms Amin.
“The power station has been completed and delivered to the Electricity and Water Authority. Currently work is being done on the interior and the electromechanical work.”
The ground floor of the centre contains the main hall for sorting mail, a customs lounge, a parcels lounge, an employees lounge, a reception hall, a registration hall, a corporate hall, and administrative offices and storage, while the first floor will include administration offices and a meeting room.
