MANAMA: Sahar Ataei has been appointed as new chief financial officer (CFO) of Asry, the Arabian Gulf’s leading maritime repair and fabrication facility.
As CFO, she will oversee the human resources, finance and IT divisions.
Ms Ataei joins the shipyard after 19 years with Bahrain’s national carrier Gulf Air, most recently as CFO.
She has more than 20 years of experience as a financial professional.
Ms Ataei is also a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) financial committee, and has sat on several boards including Gulf Hotels Group and Bahrain Airport Services.
“As Asry stabilises its financial position and seeks greater efficiencies, we sought a candidate that combined deep financial knowledge with an understanding of the critical role the company plays in Bahrain’s economy,” said Asry chief executive Andy Shaw.
“Sahar appreciates our mission to ensure sustainable shareholder returns while remaining a national employer of choice, and we look forward to her valuable contribution to our development.”
