Manama: Bahrain’s close, 200-year-old relationship with Britain was hailed last night by Deputy King His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
He described it as a very long-standing, important alliance that matters deeply to both countries which share the same values of mutual respect, peace and stability.
The Deputy King emphasised that progressive, modern countries cannot stand in isolation, but can develop only by talking, sharing and learning from one another.
He said he had found so many areas of common ground with the UK, and hoped that in 200 years from now “people will celebrate these common traits and values that make us such good allies”.
The Deputy King was speaking at the launch of the 2016 Bicentenary Celebrations of Bahrain-UK relations on board HMS Defender, at Mina Salman Port.
