In 2007, Lionel Messi appeared for the first time in the Arab World when Barcelona met Africa giants Al Ahly celebrating their ceremony for 100 years of establishment.
Messi played in the 4-0 victory for the Catalans.

UAE
Messi's two times visit to Dubai was full of success.
UAE hosted the FIFA World Club Cup in 2009 (officially known as the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2009) and Barcelona won the tournament.
In 2015, Messi won award for the best player in Dubai's Globe Soccer Awards. Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashed had met Messi while fans took pictures with him at Burj Al Arab tower.

Right after winning the FIFA World Club Cup in UAE in 2009, he went to Kuwait for a friendly game against Kazma which ended in a draw 1-1. Messi, however, did not play in that match.
