Beirut: A Lebanese woman who posed as a beggar had nearly 1.33 billion Lebanese pounds ($861,009 approx.) in her bank account.
The news came to light following the shutdown of Jammal Trust Bank (JTB) as instructed by the US Treasury.
The woman, known as Wafaa Mohammad Awad, is famous amongst the residents of Sidon for begging, according to media reports.
A photo of two cheques of LBP750, 000,000 ($496,736 approx.) and LBP589, 000,000 ($390,103 approx.) bearing the name Wafaa Mohammad Awad issued by the Lebanese Central Bank was circulating on social media.
