MANAMA: His Majesty King Hamad yesterday issued a royal order appointing Major General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa as National Security Adviser.
Under the royal order, the National Security Adviser, who will report to the Supreme Defence Council, “shall oversee the national security policies and strategies of Bahrain to ensure top internal and external interests, in co-operation with competent authorities”.
The order shall take immediate effect, and will be published in the Official Gazette.
Ministers, senior government officials, diplomats and citizens congratulated Shaikh Nasser and stressed that the royal trust bestowed upon him reflects the great role he is undertaking in the service of the nation and its advancement.
