Oman: Hundreds of thousands of Omani citizens will head today to the polling stations to elect their representatives at the Shura Council.
A total of 713,335 registered citizens are eligible to elect the new members of the 86-seat Majlis Al Shura for the 9th session since the council was established.
The voting procedures which begin at 7am will see 375,801 men and 337,534 women in all the governorates queueing up to cast their e-ballots.
Voting will be over by 7pm and the results are expected to arrive before midnight, according to the Ministry of Interior, which is responsible for the whole election process.
The eighth Shura Council was dissolved after the Royal Directives of Sultan Qaboos.
The ninth Majlis Al Shura will convene in November after the elections.
