Sulaiman Fahad Al Fahad, the interior ministry undersecretary, issued a new warning on Tuesday about the adherence to the strict uniform code for policewomen in Kuwait after he noticed that some policewomen failed to adhere to the rules.
“All policewomen, regardless of their ranks, must remain fully committed to the rules during the working hours or when they are on an official mission or on assignment,” the circular said, according to a report in Gulf News.
They have clear rules regarding their appearance which they must adhere to without fail.
According to the rules, policewomen should not wear an abaya over their uniforms. They are not allowed to wear tight-fitting clothes and pregnant policewomen must wear loose clothes.
They must avoid too much makeup, flashy accessories, coloured contact lenses, nose studs or long lashes.
They must not have stylish haircuts and cannot wear oversized rings.
They cannot have painted nails and are not allowed to keep them longer than 2mm.
Henna or any other designs on the hands must be avoided.
The policewomen are to wear their official shoes provided by the ministry and not stilettos and sandals, the circular said, according to a report in Gulf News.
Al Fahad warned that failure to adhere to the rules would result in questioning.
