Kuwait: Two Kuwaiti nationals were found dead with gunshots to their heads at a restaurant they owned in a Mount Lebanon town.
Official Lebanese National News Agency identified the victims as Hussein Nassar and Nabil Yaaqoub al-Gharib, born in 1958 and 1960 respectively.
The bodies were reportedly found in a bedroom underneath the restaurant in Dahr al-Wahesh, an area that is part of the town of Kahaleh in the Aley district.
The two victims, who co-own the restaurant 'Laredo', were getting ready to travel to Kuwait on the same day.
A Nissan x-Trail was found at the vicinity of the crime scene.
The Lebanese judicial authorities launched an inquiry into the circumstances of the crime.
In a statement to Al-Anbaa, Kahaleh Mayor George Bajani said that the murder was most likely criminal, ruling out terror-related motives
Meanwhile, Kuwait's embassy in Beirut said that investigations into the killing of two Kuwaiti nationals in Lebanon are underway and it is premature to identify the culprits and the motives behind the heinous crime.
In a statement to KUNA, Kuwaiti Ambassador Abdulal Al-Qena'e said that the Lebanese authorities have informed the embassy that the two nationals who were reported missing by their relatives were found dead with gunshots on their body in their residency in Al-Kahaleh neighborhood, Eastern Beirut.
The ambassador extended condolences to the relatives of the two victims.
He reiterated the foreign ministry's warning to nationals not to travel to Lebanon currently due to the difficult political and security conditions there.
