Bahrain: Around 300 people, including 24 children, were evacuated when fire broke out in a hotel in Manama yesterday, reports SANDEEP SINGH GREWAL.
Seven fire engines were dispatched to The Domain Hotel and Spa to battle the blaze, which forced an emergency evacuation of guests and hotel staff.
The blaze was ignited at 12.30pm on the 28th floor and the Civil Defence said it was caused by a short circuit.
“Seven Civil Defence vehicles extinguished a fire in a room of a hotel in Manama, while precautionary evacuation was carried out for 299 individuals, including 24 children for their safety,” said the Interior Ministry in a statement. “Civil Defence teams reached the scene in remarkable time and prevented the fire spreading to nearby rooms.”
The hotel said in a statement that all rooms on the 28th floor were manually searched to ensure all guests were evacuated.
