It’s is a known fact that men are more likely to lose hair, but hair thinning is equally demoralising for women.Hair loss can be caused by a temporary issue such as a vitamin deficiency to a more complex health condition. It is better to find out the reason before it is too late.
These are four most common causes of hair loss.
Don’t let the stress take your hair
The life cycle of hair has three phases, growth, rest and shredding. Physical stress on the body, anything from a common cold to a severe car crash can cause temporary loss of hair.
“When you have a really stressful event, it can shock the hair cycle, (pushing) more hair into the shedding phase,” explains Marc Glashofer, MD, a dermatologist in New York City. This form of hair loss is called Telogen Effluvium and becomes noticeable at least two months after the ‘shock’.
Emotional stress can also induce hair loss, in the event of a divorce or death of a loved one. Don’t stress - it is only temporary, hair will start to grow back when your body has recovered.
