Riyadh: The richest horse race in equestrian sport will be held on February 29 in Saudi Arabia, under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The Saudi Equestrian Club announced the date of the maiden race which will be held at the King Abdulaziz Horse racing circuit in Riyadh.
Addressing a press conference to announce the event, Saudi Equestrian Club chairman Prince Bandar bin Khalid Al Faisal said the overall value of the prize would top $292 million for the winner, Sabq reported.
The Saudi Cup will include the following races:
- The Obaiya Arabian Classic – Purebred Arabians ($1.9 million).
- The Jockey Club Local Handicap –($500,000).
- Longines Turf Handicap ($2.5 million).
- The Saudi Sprint ($1.5 million).
- The Neom Turf Cup ($1,000,000).
- The Saudi Derby ($8000,000).
- The 1351 Turf Sprint ($1,000,000)
