MANAMA: Two rare sea turtles were rescued and rehabilitated before being released into the sea in a joint effort between the Bahrain Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA) and the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE).
The BSPCA took care of the turtles for 10 days before releasing them on Ajira Island on February 7.

The two turtles, found stranded on separate coasts in Bahrain, showed signs of fatigue, said BSPCA chairman Mahmood Faraj.
He described one as a large ‘loggerhead’ turtle, aged between 40 and 50, while the other was a small ‘hook bill’ turtle.
“The large turtle was found in Al Durrah area by a sailor. It was examined at My Pets Clinic where a CT scan was performed and the turtle was provided with medical and therapeutic care for 10 days,” said Mr Faraj.
“Once it recovered fully it was released.
“The little turtle was found on the coast of Bahrain Bay.”
Mr Faraj praised the SCE and its chief executive officer Dr Mohammed Bin Daina who followed the case closely.
