The Flying Dutchman Max Verstappen of Red Bull took pole position for tomorrow’s Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in an exhilarating qualifying session that came down to the wire, with a fastest lap of one minute 30.499 seconds.
In the last few minutes of the session, Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes unseated the Red Bull for a few seconds before Verstappen resoundingly responded with a lap 0.388 seconds faster than the seven-time world champion.
Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas also managed to put up the third fastest lap, just pulling in ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
Starting from P5 onwards, in order, will be Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri), Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren), Lando Norris (McLaren), Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), Fernando Alonso (Alpine) and Lance Stroll (Aston Martin).
