Muscat: Oman's night lockdown came into effect yesterday evening with shops closing early and citizens and residents ensuring they were home by 8pm.
The lockdown, which has been implemented to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease, is expected to run until April 8, during which people are banned from leaving their homes, and the movement of vehicles is restricted between 8 pm and 5 am.
Exceptions to the rule include emergency vehicles involved in the maintenance of electricity, water, and communication networks, cleaning and sanitation teams, ambulances, and trucks heavier than three tonnes.
Individuals who work at the country's airports, refineries, and ports, medical staff and health workers are also part of the exemption.
