CITIZENS and residents have been warned against spreading provocative messages on social media.
The Cyber Crime unit at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security yesterday said statements were being issued from abroad and attributed to people and parties in Bahrain.
“We have been closely monitoring information circulated on social media. We found that a number of communiques and statements broadcast from abroad are being attributed to Bahrain in a bid to stir division and spread chaos.
“We call on all social media users to get information from authentic sources and refrain from broadcasting or spreading provocative messages or even dealing with them.
“It’s our patriotic responsibility to protect the country’s peace and security.”
